POSITION: Parent Educator
REPORTS TO: Family Services Coordinator
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Parent Educator is responsible for providing educational and supportive services to agency clients and the community at large. Services are delivered in accordance with the policies and regulations of Crittenton Centers and related grants and/or program requirements. The incumbent travels to client meetings within Central Illinois, participates in agency-based service delivery, maintains client records, and submits reports and billing statements as required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Implements Program Initiatives.
- Designs and/or facilitates a wide variety of educational and supportive services to agency clients and community participants
- Collaborates with other agencies to promote and provide educational services to families
- Administers screenings and conducts assessments according to program requirements and client needs
- Identifies and recruits families in need of educational services
- Develops client goals and evaluates progress
- Ensures high ethical standard by preserving client confidentiality
- Conducts regularly scheduled visits according to grant and/or program requirements
- Provides educational services in a group setting or on an individual basis
- Maintains an appropriate, professional relationship with clients, families, staff and volunteers
- Ensures that a developmentally appropriate and exciting curriculum is consistently implemented
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
2. Provides professional leadership & coordination/ collaboration.

- Participates in a variety of internal/ external meetings/ groups
- Works with community agencies/groups to address unmet and special needs of families
3. Complies with grant guidelines, and DCFS, COA and agency requirements.
- Attends required in-service trainings and professional workshops, including successful completion of 20 in-service hours of training in first year and 15 every subsequent year.
- Collects, analyzes and maintains program data related to the Family Services.
- Maintains comprehensive, accurate and orderly client files.
- Compiles & submits weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports, upon request, for fulfillment of division, agency and grant requirements
- Fosters actions that advance the mission of Crittenton Centers.
- Assists in the implementation of program practices that are in line with community needs
- Participates in appropriate community groups to develop partnerships, collaborations, and networks to further the fulfillment of the agency mission
- Keeps abreast of trends and issues in the social services
