A World of Support in Action
Parents as Teachers launched the World of Support initiative to bring families, home visitors, and community partners together in shared spaces that celebrate learning, play, and connection. The goal of these events is to make community resources visible and accessible, deepen relationships between families and local providers, and create a welcoming environment where caregivers can explore activities that support children’s development. Each World of Support event reflects the strengths of the local community and highlights how collaboration can expand support systems for families.

In Peoria, this vision came to life through a powerful partnership between Bright Futures, Crittenton Centers, the Peoria Regional Office of Education, and the Boys & Girls Club, who hosted the first-ever World of Support event. Eighteen families attended a morning filled with food, drinks, hands-on activity stations, and opportunities to learn about local resources. Families engaged in indoor play, fingerplays and music, breathing exercises, laundry toss games, bedtime routine make-and-take kits, and information from the Peoria Imagination Library. A raffle with four prizes—including a laundry basket starter kit, toddler swing, and Radio Flyer—added excitement and fun for families.
This event showcases what is possible when organizations come together with a shared purpose. Congratulations to the Peoria partners for creating a strong, community-centered experience for families—and for leading the way in Illinois’ World of Support movement.
