Celebrating World Doula Week (March 22–28)
During World Doula Week, we join communities across the globe in recognizing the important role doulas play in supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period.
At the Parents as Teachers Illinois State Office, we are proud to work alongside both parent educators and doulas—partners who share a common goal: ensuring families feel supported, informed, and empowered from the very beginning.
Supporting Families from the Start
Doulas provide consistent, relationship-based support that helps families navigate pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period with greater confidence.
- Continuous emotional and physical support
- Guidance and reassurance during key transitions
- Encouragement of informed decision-making
- Support for bonding and early family relationships
This type of support contributes to stronger experiences for families and healthier beginnings for children.
Why This Week Matters
World Doula Week is an opportunity to:
- Recognize the impact of doulas in improving family experiences and outcomes
- Highlight the importance of early, relationship-based support
- Strengthen awareness of community-based services that support families
Honoring Our Partners
We are grateful for the dedication of doulas across Illinois and the ways they support families during such an important time. Their work helps lay the foundation for healthy beginnings and strong family relationships.
As we celebrate this week, we encourage programs and partners to take a moment to recognize the doulas in their communities and continue building strong systems of support for families.
