Onboarding
When joining Parents as Teachers Illinois as an affiliate or other member, you will be asked to go through certain registration requirements. See below for the full list of steps to onboard with the Parents as Teachers program.
Create profiles on:
- PAT Portal
- The Professional Learning Network – IL state funded only
- Gateways to Opportunity Registry
- Add to Penelope or Visit Tracker
If possible, before attending PAT training have new supervisors and parent educators:
- Shadow personal visits, group connections, and screenings
- Review current Affiliate Plan
- Review program Policies and Procedures manual
- Become familiar with funder requirements
- Participate in these Start Early training opportunities
- When your staff member(s) is ready to attend PAT training follow the directions here for training registration.
After attending PAT training, have new parent educators:
- Be observed conducting a personal visit, group connection, screening
- Initiate Reflective Supervision
- Get to know community partners
- Participate in recruitment efforts
- Become proficient in the program’s data management system (Penelope, Visit Tracker, COPA, etc.)
- Continue to participate in these suggested Start Early learning opportunities
