Transitions Urges Community to Nurture Children

QUINCY — Transitions of Western Illinois hopes to see the community play a larger role in preventing child abuse — and helping to nurture children.

“Child abuse and neglect is a real thing. It happens in our community. There are things people can do to help prevent child abuse and neglect,” Transitions Executive Director Mark Schmitz said.

“It’s hard to be a parent these days, maybe harder than ever, and the stresses that lead a parent to child abuse are many and varied,” he said. “But we know that when you connect with people, befriend them, walk beside them in their troubles, they’re more likely to choose another path.” Read More
