Walking Beside Families at 70: Celebrating Ms. Vivian Thompson
The PAT Illinois State Office is proud to recognize Ms. Vivian Thompson, a dedicated home visitor with Brightpoint’s Stronger Beginnings for Families program, who was recently honored with the Home Visiting Impact Award from Prevent Child Abuse Illinois. At 70 years old, Vivian continues to bring wisdom, compassion, and decades of experience to her work—supporting families through twice-monthly visits and helping parents ensure their children are developmentally on track.
Vivian’s approach reflects the core values of the Parents as Teachers model—relationship-based support, encouragement, and walking alongside families through both challenges and milestones. “I’m not here to judge you,” she shared. “We’re going to walk alongside you and get through this together.” That philosophy has guided her remarkable career serving children and families for more than 30 years.
We are inspired by Vivian’s continued dedication and proud to see her work recognized at the state level. Congratulations to Vivian—and to the Brightpoint team—for this well-deserved honor. Your commitment strengthens families and elevates our collective work across Illinois.
